Eyebrows

The eyebrows enhance the eye. Generally the medial (inner) portion of the eyebrow should start at the inner canthus of the eye with the peak arch being over the pupil. The end of the eyebrow should be at or just past the outer edge of the eye. It is desirable to shape the eyebrow by removing the hairs between and below the brow and leaving as much of the hair as possible above the brow to give the brow height and thus enhancing the eye area.

The tissue of the eyebrow is very thin and requires short appointments of 15 minutes or shorter for best results. Appointments should be made weekly for 15 minutes until the brows are cleared of hair. Appointments can then be spaced out for maintenance purposes until the hairs are gone permanently.

The hairs of the eyebrow usually die fairly quickly so each hair is discussed with the client to ensure proper shaping prior to extraction. The client will hold a mirror during the treatment process and have an interactive approach during the procedure.

    Hair Growth Cycles:

It is important to understand hair growth cycles. Hairs grow and rest in cycles so the hair that you currently have is not all the hair you have in total. When a hair has completed its growth cycle the follicle releases the hair and goes into a dormant cycle. This cycle allows the follicle to rejuvenate while another hair is formed. This cycle can last from six weeks to two months before the hair grows again. The active growth cycle is the only time that a hair should be treated with electrolysis. When the hair first starts to grow it is at it’s weakest which is why it is important to stay on a strict schedule so the hairs can be treated most effectively and die faster. In the beginning the appointments will be closer together, usually once a week, since there will be more hairs in the active growth cycles. As hairs are treated and die, the appointments will be farther apart until no further treatments are needed.
